car stero is dead

My wife has a 1994 Altima. Her radio has stopped working. There is no display, but there is a hum or very very low sound. (I mean very low) Cd, tape, or radio will not show on display or sound loud enough to even hear. I think even now it may not even take a cd. I would like to have this repaired for Christmas. She has just found out that she is pregnant and wants some soothing music to listen to.Thanks for any help.

Re: car stero is dead

I have the same troubles in mine. The only solution to the problem that anyone has put forth is to just replace the stereo. From what I can tell, it seems like the ground connections just go bad inside the stereo and it stops woring.

Re: car stero is dead

well, you guys posted a while ago, but it's worth a shot...

same thing happened to mine. i know nothing about cars or electrical, but i know you need electricity to make things work. check the fuses, cuz i replaced mine and it worked like a charm. there is a "guide" on the inside of the panel door that should point you to the right one, then simply get a replacement.
