Paint Job Estimate

Next thursday i'll be getting my tune up, some tires, brakes, etc. After all that, next on my list would be body work. Starting tomorrow i'm searching through the phone book and going to be going to a few shops and getting estimates on some body work. My car has quite a bit of rust on one side, and a few dents, etc.

All i want is to fix the rust, fix the dents, take off the glue where that chrome window molding was (just sand that part off and paint it), and paint the car the same color as it was stock. What would you say is a reasonable price for this type of bodywork? And what would I look for in a shop? What questions should I ask them?

Kk went out this mornin and took some photos with my fuji340. On the taillight where there's a lot of rust, the rust is behind that little panel piece as well.










Anyone have any idea how much it'd cost to fix this stuff?

depends on where you take it. Be prepare to hear at least $1,000 dollars to fix rust and paint the car + clearcoat. At least you rust isnt holes because they need to have metal welded on which costs more.

it depends how much you want to spend fixing it...
Job proffecionaly done i would say it goes around like $200-$400 bucks around there. I had the same problem with my CRX i went to autozone and bought the drill bit rust-remover disc $3 or 4 bucks depending on the size you want. Put it in the drill and kiss rust goodbye, it will take the paint/primer/rust away. Just make sure you cover up the parts that you dont want to sand. Put scotch tape or whatever around the area you want sand to give you enough space. As for the little spots just sand them down those are simple. Buy bondo for like 5 bucks and wham ready to paint the parts. So do it yourself its not too hard dude, i did it myself and it turned out cool and cheap......i spend only like 20 bucks all together.

when i got my car completly repainted and stuff fix on my car was around 1700 so expect somewhere around that price to come from a good shop

hey if u lived in the NY area i would finish the body work an prep for paint for like 350 LOL ur gunna pay outta ur ass for that at a bodyshop unless u got something under the hood sell it

k, already got a quote for around $600 - i don't wanna go to maaco to get it done but imma see what they'd quote me for, probably cheapo - you get what you pay for right? Another nice shop would charge me 3000, i was like heck no! But, i like my car, and it was a tough decision whether or not to keep it and hook it up or save up for another car, and i'm keepin it. If i saved up for a car, it'd take a whileee before i got one. But if i hook this one up bit by bit, i'll have a nice car to roll around in, and i can save up for a car on the way. It'd be a shame to see this nice honda go to waste. Everything else is perfect, interior is perfect, engine is fully maintained, just the body is rusted, meh! I'm fixin that rust one way or another! If i can get some days off work, i'd do it myself at a friends house. All I'd hafta do is buy the supplies and do the prep work myself. But i don't have time for that really, so gotta go to a shop prolly, or take a week off work

Do the prep work and take it to a body shop and have them paint it. If you're keeping it the original color then you can get it painted for cheap (assuming you do all the body work/prepping yourself).
