timming belt replacement

I already posted this but i didnt get back in time to check.Anyway i need to replace my timming belt on my 1.9 L 90 escort before i take the top pulley off do is there anything i have to do first. I dont see a mark on it. The bottom one where the crank is do i just bump the motor over till the mark is in site.Then suppose i find the mark on the pulley where the valves r do i then just aline them and put the belt back on, what about the distributor,do i have to mess with that. My problem is the chiltons book i have talks about already having the motor at T.D. C. Are these the correct steps to take.Also is a 90 1.9L a non-interfearance motor? plese help THANKS MARK M.
