Navigation Radio compatability
Just installed a navigation radio in 2003 Denali-NO SOUND. Radio is an 04, origin unknown, but likely chevy(#15108241). I saw a post somewhere about this problem, but no details. Saw a reference on E-bay 05 ad about Y91 option and "Lux" or "Non-Lux" amp???????? Has anyone sorted it out?

FWIW--check your glove box sticker to see if RPO code Y91 is listed; if so, then you have the lux amp in your truck and will need nav radio part number 15204335 in order for it to work correctly (e.g., able to hear sound). Basically, there are two INR units--one that is programmed to work with trucks w/o Y91, and one that does work w/ Y91. You can get a nav unit designed to work w/ Y91 to work correctly in a non-Y91 vehicle if you can find a Y91 amp and related wiring; this is what you may need to do if you do find out you don't have Y91 and you're unable to unload your nav unit.

Looks like I will have a "non-Lux" 04 unit for sale and will need to find one for Y91 equipped vehicles.
Does anyone know if 05(touch screen) unit will work in 03 vehicle?? |

Minor caveat--although the glovebox sticker should accurately reflect the RPO codes installed in your vehicle, there is that very small possibility that one or more of the codes may be incorrect. Here's hoping things work out for you in your search! |

I am now looking for assistance in this same area. I just bought a 2004 suburban LT with bose system, but It does not have the Y91 number in the glove box.
Is it possible to upgrade to the factory navigation system, without replacing the amp? and does anyone know which partnumber is needed? |

Tom - I know a bit more about this than I did a few weeks ago. You need a "non-lux" or "non-Y91" unit. #15108421 should be "plug-n-play" in your Sub. The Touch screen unit would be #10377287. Not a big deal to install. I still have #15108421. If you are interested or have installation questions, e-mail me at [email protected].

Re: Navigation Radio compatability
The perfect radio for that vehicle is an Eclipse AVN 2454. It is a touch screen nav unit. It is based on a double din chassis so chances are it will also fit your next vehicle. You need a couple of modules to fully integrate it into your vehicle. Peripheral components makes a plug and play module that takes care of all the necary wiring and onother that integrates the steering wheel controls. I have the unit in both my vehicles and it is outstanding. Eclipse is an OEM supplier to Toyota and Lexus. The radio is a spin off from that relationship. It plays MP3 as well and best of all it can play DVD movies....
I will try and post a picture of my 04 Denali Hope this helps Quote:

Re: Navigation Radio compatability
I have a Delphi Delco Naviagtion system out of a 2004 suburban. Part Number 15204335. What is this compatability of this unit? Non Lux?, Lux?, Y91? ? Are there any codes for this unit relative to VIN. Will unit plug an play in another vehicle set up to accept this?
Thanks, Mike |

Re: Navigation Radio compatability
I have a 2003 GMC Envoy SLE and I would like to add a Navigation unit. How do i know if my Envoy has a "non lux" or "lux" amp? I do not think I have a BOSE system currently if that makes a difference. Thanks

Re: Navigation Radio compatability
bottom line, does lux mean bose or digital, and does non-lux mean non-bose or non-digital?

Re: Navigation Radio compatability
I am the unhappy owner of an '07 Corvette with factory Nav. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought the car without Nav and installed a Pioneer AVIC-D2. Denso does not have the foggiest idea how to get from point A to point B without unnecessary touring the adjacent countryside.

Re: Navigation Radio compatability
I am also trying to figure this out..
Can anyone help? I have a 2003 Denali XL w/9 speaker Bose system (CD & Cassette) w/cd changer, xm, steering wheel controls along with Onstar. I am wanting to buy and install a navigation system. I am not sure how to read the sticker in the glove box to find out if I have the Y91 option. Lux or not Lux? Would the compatible unit be Gm part #15800001? What about using a Delphi unit? Are they the same? If so would I require NA40001 or NA4000511B1? I would appreciate anyone that can help. Also anyone have any opinions on the Navigation systems? I could not find any reviews of the GM or Delphi systems. Thanks, Tammy |
