This forum needs posts - I have a 72 Super...

Just thought I'd say hello. I bought a '72 Super last month for $1200. It has a 1776cc motor with dual Kadron carbs and an Engle 120 cam. Runs pretty good, and pretty quick. There's a bit of rust around the front of the floor pan, but otherwise it's pretty solid. The brakes pull to one side so that will probably be my first big project. I haven't decided whether to just replace the stock pieces or do a front disc conversion. Any advice?

Congrats on the new (old) car! I would definately go for the disk conversion, they arent that much money, pick up the current VW Trends or Hot VW's and take a look at some of the add's in there. If you want an active VW forum check out www.shoptalkforums.com, best VW message board on the net. Another awesome site to check out is www.thesamba.com, they have classifieds and TONS of pictures, both very active.

Definatley go for the disc conversion, and while your at it, replace the front dampers too. ShopTalk's been hacked, but there's plenty of info over at The Samba or at www.superbeetles.com so if you're not so mechanically inclined, somebody could probably talk you through it. Good luck.

Info is sketchy at best, been up, then down, up, down again for the last couple of weeks. Believe it or not, the best info is over on The Samba, everybody's super cool over there, shoot, you'll probably get excess info. I think folks are trying to help out STF by upgrading, or by merger with another forum, but to tell the truth, I just dont know.
