i think everyone in the toyota/scion forums have known this for quite a while. they were discussing the trd supercharger a few months ago. since i own a tc and love it so dearly, i'm definitely going for the supercharger. my sales rep also informed me when i was buying the car that such an option would be available in the near future, and now that a date is set for the blower to come out, i can hardly wait!

If i can scrape the money together, I have faith that the supercharger will be what its cracked up to be.

Re: tC with 240hp..What the hell.

My friend bought a new tC and he wants to add some HP so I decided to do some research for him. Now according to "Consumer Report" (A self explanitory magazine) the dealer-installed super charger is suppose to take it up to 200 hp. To get 60 to 80 hp out of a super charger on a 4-banger is kind of reaching.

Im a camaro guy myself but I will admit that the TC is a pretty fun car... curious, anyone know what it does on the quater mile?

incase you wanted to know, the tc has the same engine, and weighs about the same as a camry, so you basically think the camry is a pretty fun car =P

The TRD Supercharger is supposed to be putting 200hp to the wheels.... not a giant increase over the stock hp... but it also wont void your warrenty either, since you'll have a toyota technician installing it.

For those of you not concerned about warrenties, lets not forget about all the turbo kits coming out though... Greddy's new kit for the tC should be out sometime this summer... big potential for a lot more hp with them than with the TRD supercharger

Re: tC with 240hp..What the hell.

if your trying to get 240hp and keept the price under 20gs, good luck.

Here are some options for performance parts:
TRD supercharger
Turbocharger (turbonetics)
Intake
FULL TB exhaust (or for the non FIed, FULL CB exhaust)
Injectors
reflash( chip/remap)
CF hood
Port'n Polish head
Headers
Shave cylinder head
raise up the air/fuel ratio

Re: tC with 240hp..What the hell.

first, to the camaro guy: i managed to run a 15.7xx in the quarter mile, i might be able to do better if i get my launch right. my car is pretty much stock, except for an intake.

second, to the guy who posted last: 240 hp can be achieved with zpi stage 0 and their exhaust system. also, i didn't know that carbon fiber adds horsepower.

The TRD supercharger is putting down about 190whp, which is about 225 horsepower at the crank.

The turbonetics kit is putting down 240HP and 260lbs. of torque. But costs $4300

Intakes are not compatible with any supercharger or turbocharger out for the tC right now.

Injectors arent going to add power, they simply dump more fuel into the engine.

The full exhaust without having any type of forced induction will actually lower your horsepower, NA engines need some back pressure.

As of right now, people are having a very tough time cracking the new toyota ECU's, not even the MR2 ECU has been cracked yet, so there is no real way to remap this system without having some kind of piggy back or standalone system. Can you say... E-manage?

Carbon fiber hood takes about 10lbs of the car. I'll let you be the judge if you think thats going to help.

Whats the difference between a port and polish and shaved cylinder head?

So far messing with the head on this car has only caused problems. It is a very very hard procedure.

What the hell does "raise up the air/fuel ratio" mean?
Yes we could make the car run lean, but that would compromise safety and reliability. If you never plan on running a turbo or a supercharger than i would recommend upgrading your pistons. However, it is still very hard to put a tC around 200whp with any sort of forced induction.

Re: tC with 240hp..What the hell.

A friend of mine has his turbo'ed with a turbonetics sponsorship. He runs 12.4 1/4 mile. Eats gas but sounds great.

Re: tC with 240hp..What the hell.

Heres my insight on the tc. in my opinion i wouldn't go with the trd supercharger. reason being if you finance it along with the car your gonna end up paying way more then you think after interest. not only that but the setup is limitted at the moment. a tc with the trd sc will typically run low 15's high 14's. not much bang if you ask me. now the turbonetics kit from turbo's.com puts down 244whp. after interest that trd supercharger will cost you just as much as if you bought a turbo kit. and the turbo kit is better in every way. i'm looking into buying a scion and thats the route i would go. theres plenty of after market support with ppl already running in the 12's with turbo kits. not only that but the kit comes with e manage and a base map. you can safely run a turbo kit.
