Help ASAP

Alright I do not own the 4 runner but my room mate does. She just got everything done on her brakes... Rotors Cappilers Pads... the whole works.... now when she is going forwards and hits the brakes it sounds like the thing is gonna fall apart. Horriable vibrations come from the front right wheel as if it is hitting with just the edge. All we need to know is ... is it safe to drive down to the shop to get fixed... and what could be causing this. Oh and it does NOT do it when braking in reverse.

Re: Help ASAP

Without knowing the source of the sound or the state of the brakes, I would have to say that you should have the truck towed back to the shop who recently repaired the brakes.

Dont drive it

I would not drive it ESPECIALLY since the break job is fresh.
There should never be any noise from new brakes maybe a temporary high pitch squeel of new linning breaking in.
All you know is enough to not take the chance there is something worng with the brakes.
Try this senerio: You elect to drive it and have an accident because the caliper piston(s) blew and then the investigators get wind that you knew the brakes were sketchy.
Do you have a good, I mean REALLY good lawyer?

Good luck
My guess is they didin't torque the rotor and it's worked loose on that side NOT GOOD! (I have my rotors in the machine shop right now they were new off the shelf but were not perfectly true and caused a lot of pulsation when braking)

Hey give the shop a call and ask them what they want you to do, ask them if they want to be liable for the risk if they say to drive it.

Re: Help ASAP

Don't ask the shop anything, just have it towed back.

Re: Help ASAP

well she got it back the other day. What was there was a inperfection in the break pad which had broken off and was actully grinding into the rotor.

I do NOT recommend Going to Budget Brake and Muffler to anyone

How ever they did fix it free of charge and replace a brake light free of charge that was burnt out.
