Re: Radio stays on without key (Battery Drain!!)
Cut the wire from the stock harness and mate it with the proper 1's on the head unit.

Think what he's saying is that you have the wires connecting to your head unit crossed. Sounds like the constant 12V wire from the battery is crossed with the 12V intermittent...check the wire harness

can explain which colors connect with what because how i had it at first I :connected the 2 memory 12volts together(yellow) to ground wires together(black) and the 2 accessorie/ignitions together(red) then i connected the reds and the yellows together thats how i had it and it stays on

Quote:
the red and yellow should not be together. The red goes on and off with your key while the yellow is your constant 12v (memory)

Re: Radio stays on without key (Battery Drain!!)
now??? You can't cross the two wires, whatever said to do that was lying. The yellow(from car) is the constant power and since the yellow is connected to both Yellow and Red(on HU harness) the headunit it is always seeing the ignition as being on. You need to uncross those two wires and your problem will be solved.

Re: Radio stays on without key (Battery Drain!!)
lol.. DO NOT CONNECT ANY WIRES TOGETHER!!!! uncrimp them, and tape up the exposed wires... he said to just check the yellow and red wires on the head unit harness.. trace them back to the ignition and be sure they do not cross each other to complete a circuit. patch them if you need to, or run new wires, to rid yourself of the problem completely..

Do you have a multimeter? If so measure the voltage(DC) of the red wire. It shoudl be 0 when the ignition is off and 12-14 when its on. The yellow should always read 12-14. If you have everytihng hooked up correctly and its blowing the fuse check past the harness, make sure no bare wires have been exposed and also check there are no shorts with the cigg ligher. its on the same fuse as the radio.
