'94 S-10 4.3L 2 wheel drive
Problem: stalling at high rpm's, hesitation at 35 mph and up engine dying when full acceleration is tried. It was stalling and dying at idle, but I replaced the fuel filter and idle and low rpm's are fine. Just at about 35 mph and up, when you depress the pedal the engine stalls and sometimes dies. It does fire right up. I checked the fuel pressure and the reading is low when engine is "on" but not running. When running, the pressure is close to normal but about 2 to 9 psi shy of what the reading should be when at high rpm's. Does this indicate a faulty fuel pump or bad injectors? Or something else. I cleaned the throttle body and the injectors were replaced about 2 years ago. Any help and advice would be appreciated. |

Re: Bad fuel pump????
It could be the fuel pump, But they usually just stop working altogether
check the voltage at the fuel pump, and while your at it clean up any conection. If it isn't getting full voltage it won't give you full power. |

Re: Bad fuel pump????
It Definetly Sounds Like A Bad Fuel Pump. To Verify Put A Fuel Pressure Gauge On The Shrader Valve Located On The Fuel Rail And Take Her For A Test Drive. Put The Pedal To The Floor And See What The Fuel Pressure Is Doing. If It Is Dropping, Replace The Pump.

Re: Bad fuel pump????
Sounds like a bad CPI injector to me.
