97 GP GTP headlight lens cover

This is second time my lens cover (just the cover this time, not the entire head light assembly) has fallen off. This time, however, I was able to recover the lens cover. I wasn't doing 90 on the interstate, as was the cast last time. Wouldn't have wanted to be the car behind me in the "granny lane".

Any way, I hope GM saved a LOT OF MONEY on the CHEAP head light assembly. BUT, I need the $$$ more than GM.

I read a thread where there was a discussion on cleaning the lens cover, but I can't find it again.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A GOOD WAY TO CLEAN A VERY "CRYSTALIZED" AND "WEATHER WORN" LENS COVER. I suppose I will re-attach it with clear silicone?

One day I'll spring for replacement head lights. Are there any GOOD ONES in the aftermarket? If so, where can they be found.

Re: 97 GP GTP headlight lens cover

GM used wrong sealant on 97 and 98 GP's headlight capsule.

Re: 97 GP GTP headlight lens cover

I just stuck it back with some silicone. If I would have known this the first TWO times, I would not have been RIPPED OFF by the local dealer in replacing the entire headlight assembly AND, by re-applying with my own $2.00 clear silicone, the capsule is finally, properly sealed and water tight.
Whoever chose that sealant at GM should have lost their job.

97 GTP Headlight Lens Cover

Does anyone know where, or if, you can purchase just the lens cover. Mine fell off in my driveway yesterday and just thought it was something from highway. Then ran over it on my way back home that day! Thanks for any help anyone can give.
