Need help on engine swap please~!!!
OK, so I look forward to swaping my 93 model si engine to a V-tec.
What I would like to know is...could I mount a Prelude Type-S H22A (97-01) engine into my 93 prelude??? I was thinking maybe there may be a way to put that thing in with adjustments like mounts and stuff? I mean, I would really like to get that extra 20hp boost if possible, cause I'm currently thinking of adding a 4th gen turbo kit. Well, there's my question...I hope soemone can help me out here... |

Re: Need help on engine swap please~!!!
yes but not worth the extra hassle of making the torque -split system work right. I beleive you can make-up for the extra horses with bolt-ons and ecu tuning. An LSD tranny would be ideal if you have alittle extra $$$ to spend. In the process, you might as well upgrade your drivetrain components(clutch/press plate/flywheel etc) and you'll be glad when you finally throw your turbo on.
Then from what ive seen so far, its best to use a H23 block for boost applications because of its closed deck design which makes the sleeves stronger. I'm yet to reasearch more on this tho! still a H-series noob! Good luck! |

Re: Need help on engine swap please~!!!
If you must, buy the Type R H22A (Type SiR). It comes with the 220hp without the hassle of ATTS.. plus you get the factory limited slip differential.
SiR H22A -> 220hp LSD Type S H22A -> 220hp ATTS

funny...could you help me out here?
I looked at what JDM has to offer and doesn't seem like they have any Type-R (SiR) H22A. |

yeah, those too were closed deck, thanks. Easy way out but if you have a H22 apart, might as well use proper sleeves($$$) or block guard(cheap!)

Yeah, i'd resleeve regardless of it being open or closed. It'll yield best results when you decide you don't have enough boost and are hungry for more

You're right about the type s, the only other h22 that comes with 220hp is the h22a8 that comes out of an accord euro r and it has the true lsd tranny and better gearing so out of the two 220hp h22's the euro r is the better buy. Also if you are planning on turboing your motor, the SiR motor is the best. The type s and the euro r make their 20 extra horses with better cams for a naturally aspirated motor and higher compression which is not what you want for a turboed motor. You are going to end up redoing alot more to get more hp out of those. Definitely get the lsd tranny though, you'll want it!!! |
