The Never-Ending Project...
Ok, after tons of thinking and changing my mind i finally decided.... im going turbo.
I went to my local performance shop and asked him for some prices on installing some stage 2 toda cams for my GSR, and after a few calculations...springs, retainers, cams, installation and tuning (plus the new header i wanted) would come out to right around 1700-2000 bucks. i talked to the owner for a few minutes and he agreed with me that i would be lucky if i got 20hp after it was all said and done. Then I asked him if he could piece togeather a homemade turbo for me with intercooler and asked the price... 2700 installed. $2700 - @ least 60hp $1700 - 20hp So i did the math and thats what i decided on. i think i'll probably just stick with 7-8psi on my stock internals. anybody have real data (1/4mi time, dyno, etc.) of a GSR with 7-8 pounds of boost? Ideas and suggestions on my upcoming project are very welcome! (est. time of boost... MAY)

Re: The Never-Ending Project...
I have one word for you HONDATA! Accept nothing less for the fuel management. I don't care what this guy tells you, if he tries to tell you that it is fine with the mechanical FMU than go somewhere else. You don't need someone like that working on your car let alone building a turbo kit for you. Ask him about fuel management and see what he says.

Re: The Never-Ending Project...
i defintely ask him about that, this guys owns a well name performance shop in town and has a turboed teg himself... how much do you think the HONDATA will cost? and do you really think i should upgrade the internals like BLUCIVIC said with only 7 pounds of boost?
thanx for the fast replies!

Re: The Never-Ending Project...
The problem is that most people when they get boost they are fine with it for a while. But after time they want more and the temptation of increasing the boost gets greater, then before you know it they increase and increase and BOOM! Motor blown. If you put together a good kit and tune it really well then it would be fine for a while, but I would build it sometime down the road. You also will need to stay on top of the maintenance from then on out, every 3K miles change the oil etc. You need to do a compression check and leak down test and tell us what the numbers are.

about the maintanance... I baby my car any way, change the oil 200mi before it needs to be changed, do all the scheduled maintance 3000mi before the manual says to do so... I'm just like that. and when it gets closer to turbo time i'll do the compression/leak down test and tell you guys what the results are... hopefully i wont have to rebuild the motor before going turbo, that would suck. but like gsr916 said, i plan on defintely doing it right. again, thanx for the responces
