VTEC Head Rebuild Faq (Please Help)
I'm not new to the scene and I understand vtec, pretty well but I'm starting a project which requires me to rebuild my head. My question is "What parts are in the b18c head other than the cams, valves, springs/retainers, and lifters." This is all that I know is in a Vtec head that I can Up grade, but is what are the other components in the b18c head? Is it possible that you could name all the components in the head and tell me which are upgradable if not all of them. And my other question is, the formula 1 motors (Bar Honda) are redlining at 16,000+ rpm. Do they fabricate their own motor parts? I want to build an N/A Head strong enough the handle 12,000 rpms (not for the street - willow springs) ( I'm aware that Ill sacrafice bottom end power). How are the formula 1 motors able to take the stress and what parts are they using to rebuild their heads for 16,000+ rpms. Thank you for any info.

Re: VTEC Head Rebuild Faq (Please Help)
well this post could be very long so ill answer the second half first. those race car motors are using state of the art products, that are one of a kind productions, dont expect to open a catalog and buy one. these things have been researched for years spending 10's of thousands of dollars to gain .0001sec faster around a track. unless your name is bill gates, you'll need some serious sponsership before you get your hands on the kind of products they run.
as for parts in a vtec head, ill compile a list of everything i can think of, and whatvere i miss someone can just add on to. Cams, intake/exhuast valves, valve springs, valve spring retainers, valve keepers, cam bearings, rocker arms, cam bearing caps, valve seals, valve guides, umm spark plugs. hmm thats about all i can think of, valve heads arent all that complicated. much more work can be done to them using machines such as port and polishing, blueprinting etc. but thats a whole 'nother story.
