mx-6 idle rpm messed up and overheat

hmm im stumped. literally overnight my engine temp skyrocketed. hasnt pegged red yet but has been boiling over. last time this happend there was debris in the thermostat so i replaced it. now its doing it again but there is a twist. the engine is reving sporatically in idle going from between 1K and 2K rpms. once i touch the throttle it stops but in idel it keeps lurching. im stumped. could it be a vaccum line problem? im going to flush my coolant tonight and change my thermostat AGAIN... and hopefully that will clear that problem up. ive checked the water pump and headgasket and it seems to be fine, no fluid leaks or abnormal stuff there. i have a feeling there is just some debris in my coolant lines that keeps fuckin up my thermostat. the engine idle is baffling tho. any suggestions???

Re: mx-6 idle rpm messed up and overheat

I just talked to a guy with a 93 Probe GT that does the same thing...Although he didn't mention it over heating?
I will be checking it out tommarow and let you know if I can find anything out for you.
Is yours the 2.5 V6 too?
