99 s-10 blazer fuel gauge???

my 99 s-10 blazer fuel gaugedoesnt work right...it bounces around and sometimes shows empty on a full tank or full on empty tank...also the low fuel light goes on and off...????

See your dealer and they may acknowledge a hidden warranty. Not sure about your area, but I'm in Toronto and went into the dealer 2 months back with my 2000 Blazer (out of MFG warranty) with the same problem. They added an additive to my gas and told me to come back in two weeks if the problem was still there. Problem was still there. I had to fill out a one page questionaire of where I fill up and what type of gas I used. They replaced my sending unit no charge. They told me they are having problems with the sending units and they believe it has to do with some of the gas additives that are being used by certain stations these days. Can't guarantee you will get covered, but I was.

You mentioned a "wire not connecting." Are you refering to the ground cable connecting to the sending unit. I ask because my 97 Blazer has been doing the same thing, but did not worry about it because I thought it might be an expensive fix and right now I can read the fuel usage in the trip consule although it would be nice to have a working fuel guage.

If you have a 97 blazer, you should be looking inot a bad ignition switch for the cause of most of your problems.
