i never had a grand am, but iv had my 97 grand prix gtp for 2 years now with 103000 miles on it, and i have not had too many problems with it. I drive it like i stole it and all I've had to replace is a water pump(previous owns stupidity caused this one.) a/c blower moter and a small piece on my ac(an expansion chamber that cracked at the weld caused by the engine pulling when i race). THese , i felt, were miner and this is my favorite car i have ever had among the other 4 (2-87 transAms, 1-87 tansAm GTA, 1-89 transAm) THe gtp is more comfortable and faster. Thats my testimonial take it for what it is. And have fun with the grand prix if you get it.
