Oil Pressure

My oil pressure light came on. I have plenty of oil. I changed the oil and filter, no help. The lifters are clicking, I'm sure I've lost oil pressure. Is there a way to make absolutly sure that it is the oil pump before I change it.

Thanks

Re: Oil Pressure

With low or no oil pressure everything will be "clicking" pretty soon. You can locate the oil sending unit and attach a pressure guage to confirm no pressure. Is not a good idea to be running it at all until you fix it. Pumps don't usually up and fail, they die a slow death.

oil pump

I'f it's not he pump and the head gasket appears to be fine, what else could it be. It was possible that the engine was overfilled with oil by a quart or so prior to losing pressure.

Thanks
