Re: 2000 ta traction control

Are you sure you have traction control?. Cause if you do , you should had a disengage button near your shifter. but if you assume you have traction control cause of the traction light in your dashboard cluster. They all have that and its linked your abs to let you know when you have slipping but does not control slipping unless braking.

Re: 2000 ta traction control

thats true. The traction control systems monitor and compare wheel revolutions using the abs sensors located on all four brake assemblies, and sometimes sensors located inside the transmission. If im not mistaken,if your cars computer sees the back tires spinning in more revolutions per second compared to the front,it adjusts the injector pulses and ignition timing advance. And if your car notices that this happens all the time,it can throw a check engine light, the tcs light,or even an abs light.I have a 97 crown vic with traction control, and when i shower down on the throttle, i can hear the abs system make the same noise it does if i hit the brakes and it slides.Kind of a faint *gassy* noise..My turbocharged 3800 buick has a sensor built into the transmission. One time the sensor failed, and the car would barely even move
Replacing the computer chip is the most common and effective way to make the traction control shut up.I wonder if they make a special sensor for those with the tranny sensors...?

Re: 2000 ta traction control

i think my ford is made to put on the brakes or somthing when i floor it,why else would the abs be makin noise when i peel out?it does loose some performance when it does it to,but that could be due to it automatically applying the brakes, right formula?

Thank you for the information. I know I don't have a traction control button near the shifter but I still think I have it. Anytime my tires spin the gas pedal pushes back at me until the spinning reduces. I don't know if abs does that or if it is traction control. I've also driven up a hill in the snow before in first gear not getting any traction, the low trac light came on an I was basically stuck. I ended up letting the car idle up the hill in first gear. When I did this the car slowly made its way in shorts bursts without applying any throttle manually. This is what made me believe that the car in fact had traction control, however I don't know if that has something to do with abs as well. Thank you for any more information!
