Reprogram 1997 Keypad/ Touchpad

I have a friend that needs help on how to reprogram his keypad. I have a 1999 Expedition would it be the same?

i don't know what year your friend's explorer is but on my 1996 the code is printed on the (ECM?) if you liftup on the liftgate on the back of the explorer there is a panel on the left hand side. open the panel up and up inside on top of the wheel-well there is a small flat box. printed on this box is the 5 digit code that will unlock the car with the keypad. it is hard to see the code, you'll probably need a small flash light and a mirror to see it.
