Amp Problems
Hi,
I have a 2001 Gsr with an eclipse sound amplifier, lately the amplifier has been turning off for no reason. I decided to test my battery with a voltmeter, and got 20 Volts!?, and i'm sure that my voltmeter is accurate. This is with the car ON and all accessories on (Heating, a/c, etc..). I know that it shouldnt be over 15V.My amp has a safety feature, if it detects too much or not enough current, it automatically shuts off. My amp is obviously being overcharged by my electrical system. My question is: is the problem coming from my battery or my alternator?? Report Post | IP: Logged |

Re: Amp Problems
It might be over heating, or double check the ground.

Re: Amp Problems
i would say that it's your alternator. your battery can only push as much as your alternator provides. so that would be my guess.

sounds like your alternator is over charging the battery, take it to an auto parts store and have them test it.....

Re: Amp Problems
if the problem has always been there is your amp adjusted to your system correctly. i had the same kinda thing running 2000w to three subs.i rewired subs to correct ohms for amp and stereo capabilities mono (1ohm) adjusted amp eqs to correct output ,and now it hits just fine
