91 Voyager 4 cylinder smoking

this 4 cylinder smokes both blue and steam always - cold or hot. i am trying to decide if it is headgasket and valve stem seals OR headgasket and rings. how can i determine without pullin it apart? if it's rings i will just pull a yard engine...it's cheaper. Bob
