1983 S10 Carb Swap
I have an 83 S10 with a closed loop carb. I bought a fairly new varijet carb off another 83 S10 that does not have the 2 electronic connections. Is is possible to use this carb on my truck? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: 1983 S10 Carb Swap
If it bolts right up, and the cables work out you can make it fit.
I really can't imagine you having any gain with the swap at all |

Re: 1983 S10 Carb Swap
The carb bolts up, but the check engin light comes on (I'm assuming because of the 2 connectors that have no place to hook up to the new carb.)

Re: 1983 S10 Carb Swap
Yip, that carb is not meant for that truck.
It needs those connections. Replace with the original. I really don't get why you replaced it if the other was working properly. Put your money into worthwhile mods such as a free flowing muffler and intake.

Re: 1983 S10 Carb Swap
the orginal carb from my truck is shot. The throtle shaft is loose where it goes through the side of the carb body, creating a vacuum leak. I had hoped this other carb would work.

Re: 1983 S10 Carb Swap
don't use it if it doesn't have the appropriate sensors and connections.
