Be careful there! I was fooled one time with the clutch system when i bought my 97 ranger off a dealer lot. I took the truck for a drive before i bought it and the clutch was barely working. So i told the shop to fix the problem before i buy it and they worked on it ( new clutch parts). Then i went for another drive and it drove fine so i bought it. Later on the clutch went soft again, i checked for fluid leaks and checked the reservoir. Everything was topped up, meaning no leaks, but after i bled the system it worked again. Then the problem returned a few days later. This time i took the truck to a friend who is a mechanic. he says i have a bad seal which caused air to leak in the slave cylinder (when you let go of the pedal) but does not let fluid out. Overtime enough air will leak in and cause the clutch to be soggy (this happened with my master cylinder too after we replaced the slave cylinder). So don't let a mechanic talk you into buying a new clutch, slave cylinder or a master cylinder unless they check it closely or you are in for expensive repairs if they put the truck together and assume everything is fixed and the problem comes back again. Since the truck needs to come apart, replace both the slave and master cylinder, they are not that expensive together and is cheaper than taking the truck apart again.
