serpentine belt broke/Ac locked up
Can I replace the belt without fixing the AC? I want to bypass the ac altogether. What size belt do I need. It is for a 97 taurus. Help Please!

Re: serpentine belt broke/Ac locked up
The pulley on the compressor should free wheel when the A/C is off. You can disconnect the electrical to the clutch so it won't accidentally be engaged. Don't think that you'll have any luck running a belt that skips the compressor.

Re: serpentine belt broke/Ac locked up
Sorry, can't think of anything without looking at it. If all you want to do is let it free wheel, it shouldn't be very costly to get it turning again.

I took the compressor off and got a shorter belt. Works fine for now but will have to get the ac repaired before summer. Thanks for all your help. |
