This just started this morning, went out to start the Grand Am, DOHC 2.4, and it will turn over, but will not start. Anyone else experience this??

Re: 01 Grand Am Start Problems
I just recently had the same problem over the weekend. Except I was in mid lerft turn when it happened to me. I don't know if this is the case for you, but check the fuel pump. The system may have lost a component or broken down. My repairs cost me $696 at the mechanic, but should be considerably less if you can make the repairs yourself. Keep in mind that when replacing the fuel pum, there is not only a pump, but a whole pump kit that needs to be purchased when replaced.
Check that and see if that might be the issue. |

I have checked at the fuel rail, and removed the line at the filter, plenty of fuel seems to be present...

Re: 01 Grand Am Start Problems
I have a 01 Grand Am and had same problem 3 times twice towed to shop were it miraculesly started. did some research and found that the RKE (remote keyless entry) system has a defect in it that causes car not to start. As of now there is no recall on the passlock systems. as for a fix i'm honestly not sure. to reset the computerized system put key in ignition and leave in on position for about ten minutes. Then try - should start. Warning continued problems with stalling will eventually damage computer and will cost lots to replace/fix.

Ok guys this is weird, I checked the fuel, plenty, checked the spark it was there, noticed later it was week, had the ignition module checked it was ok. While I was in there I noticed the plugs were gas fouled (not enough spark) so I changed them, tried it and it started right up.....
the only thing I did different was the plugs. Thought I'd share this with everyone. If that was it, what a week link..... |
