98 chevy s-10 blazer

i have fob kobut1bt for 98 chevy blazer, and i can't get it programmed. i followed the hold down the unlock button instructions but that did not work. also, if the wrong remote was programmed could this affect whether the new can be programmed. thanks for your help.
