Re: throttle body problem
Check the spring, cable, and the throttle plate.

Re: throttle body problem
try loosening the 2 screws on it and then opening and shutting it so that the plate sits into place, then tighten the screws.

which two screws?

there should be 2 screws that hold the throttle plate into it's holder, loosen them up and open and close it a little and let it slide into place, then tighten up the screws and that should fix it.

Re: throttle body problem
then either the shaft is broken or the bearings that the plate rotates on are bad. take the throttle body apart and see what part(s) are bad and replace them.

Re: throttle body problem
if you take it apart replace the TB shaft seals too since they dry out and cause boost leaks

Re: throttle body problem
The seals are also what locate the shaft. Though I dont believe they will allow side to side (or end to end I guess) movement of the shaft. There is a nit on the plate that holds the return spring, and there is a nut on the other end under the throttle position sensor. One of those could be loose I supposed. Either time, sounds like time for a rebuild. There are a couple vfaqs out there for it, read them carefully. Its only a couple bucks in parts, but there are a couple ways you could go wrong with it. Just read and understand, then do.

Re: throttle body problem
The dealer is charging 225-300 for new TBs, and if you buy a used one (~100 with sensors) odds are the seals still leak and should be changed. Its only 7 bucks to rebuild the one you have, I would at least consider it. The vfaqs are quite complete.
