interior lights

My interior lights would not go off after I entered my 98 mercury grand marquis LS. Last time after slamming the doors a few times they went out. NOt this time. We had to take the bulbs out of the over head and the floor under the dash. We are thinking maybe the door switch is going bad? But can't seem to find the switch, does anyone know where this is located. (I do have door keyless pad and auto lights, neither of which I use) Thanks for any help

the door light switch is useally a a lil button like thing that when u close the door it comes in contact with the switch and pushs it in which would shut off the lights it looks roughly like this http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...fox-a%26sa%3DG

The height of the plunger in the switch may need be adjusted out. This is accomodated by threaded assembly. It may simply be that plunger part of switch is too far in to be making contact with door. When plunger goes in (door closed), it opens switch and turns off lights.

Re: interior lights

Yeah! I didn't think of that. Try pushing the switch with your finger to see if it works right.
