Insurance question

Well here is my problem. I'm getting tired of paying for my insurance. I'm 18, and currently my insurance is about $95/month for just liability. I live in a no-fault state. When February rolls around, it will be time to renew my insurance. What I'm thinking of doing is renewing the policy, getting the insurance card, then as soon as I get it, cancel the policy. Drive like that for the next 5 months. I would be extremely careful, never speed, or break any laws, basically avoid any accidents. This way, if I don't cause any accidents, I saved up this money, and I can spend it on racing at a track. What do you think about doing this?

Re: Insurance question

95 a month is not that bad. Just pay it.

Re: Insurance question

Have you gotten any tickets or accidents? What kind of car do you have? I have a 1992 Buick Skylark listed as my primary car and my Civic listed as my secondary. The Skylark was my first car and only has liability on it and my Civic has full coverage and i pay only $32 per month for the Civic. I have never gotten a ticket, or pulled over, or in any accident. Plus i get no accidents bonus and good student (A honor roll) discounts on my insurance. Have your parents put a shitty car for your primary car and insure the car your driving now under your secondary and list the title to your parents and that will save a lot.

That's the thing about no fault. If I hit your car and it's totally my fault, my insurance company would only pay your medical bills, they wouldn't pay for your car. You would have to file a claim with your own insurance company to get your car fixed. So basically I'll have to avoid at-fault collisions. That's the catch.

I won't go to jail, because if a cop pulls me over, I'll have to insurance card with me, and he won't know that the policy has been cancelled.

Assholes who skimp out on paying their insurance screw the rest of us We have enough of those fuckers here in Michigan that drive up the costs. Don't become on of those.

If you can't afford the insurance, its time you stop driving and take another mode of transportation.

But if the cop desides to check your insurance your fucked. Here once you cancel your insurance, your insurance company notifies the DMV, I think you get 24 hours to drive and if you dont have insurance, byebye licence

Re: Insurance question

Georgia has created a database, still have to carry the card but the police can check the computer to see if you have insurance ....... you say all's you have to do is avoide an accident, that's not happening, otherwise it wouldn't be an accident ..... pay the insurance

I live 10 miles from my work and school. Can't ride my bike. I set up an appointment to talk with the insurance agent, because I think I might have been getting overcharged for like the past 6 months. I'll see what happens after that.

WTF...so it takes, what, 30-45 minutes to bike there? I know a guy who walks 12 miles one way to work, and then back home every day, because he cannot afford a car.

Dude just pay it. I got into a wreck a few months ago with a guy with no insurance. He was at fault and the wreck cost him over $10,000 on my half. I have no clue what he has to pay for for his medical and such, so he's fucked.

So I'd personally pay $95 a day rather than run the risk of paying thousands to an insurance company if you get into a wreck.

You can say that now, but you will wind up speeding at least. And how can you be certain you will avoid any accidents even if you do drive like that? Iwasn't speeding when I got into my wreck or doing anything wrong at all. The dumb fuck pulled across my lane and stopped across it not even 30ft infront of me, and I was going under the speed limit actually because I'd just hit my brakes to avoid another moron.

And it is beacuse of those who don't pay for insurance the rest of us get fucked in the ass.
