Starts but won't stay running

i have a 97 z24, but my friends has a 98 sunfire gt, he shuts the car off after its been running for a while then trys to start it again, if fires but won't stay running, it dies right away, now my first guess, was the o2 sensor, because i know someone who has a 97 z24 had the same problem because of an o2 sensor. now i got the bright idea to try to pull a fuse to see if that made a difference in starting, i pulled the HVAC fuse from the fuse panel inside the drivers side door, and the car fired right up and stayed running, now im not sure AT ALL if the HVAC fuse has anything to do with the o2 sensor, so im a little confused as to wheather or not pulling the fuse actually tricked the car into starting or maybe it was a fluke that it started when i pulled it but either way, does anyone know if the problem is related to the o2 sensor??

Re: Starts but won't stay running

I don't think its an O2 sensor.. those control the air/fuel ratio and emission controls. My guess is that it might be a bad battery connection, coil pack, or a fuel flow problem. There is a butt load of possibilities..

Re: Starts but won't stay running

but why when i pulled the HVAC fuse did it start? or do u think it was just a fluke? cause i know the HVAC fuse runs the ABS/cooling fan as well as the blower motor. and i was confused as to why it started when i pulled that fuse
