2004 GTP's
Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows how pontiac added those extra 40 horsepower to the 2004+ GTP's. Did it make the car any faster? |

I know this is getting old... but I just dynoed 347whp which is the record for stock heads by 12whp, so I would say the 04s have a good deal of potential.

I can't speak about all the '04 GTPs out there but the few that are in the St. Louis Club GP are slower than the '97-'03s. I managed a personal best of 14.2 this past spring on my '02 with minor mods......3.4 pulley, Thrasher CAI, U-bend delete......and did so on 17" rims, which tend to slow you down a bit in the 1/4. I've done a few mods since then so we'll se what this spring brings.
One of my closest pals has an '04 Comp G with similar mods......WizAir, 3.4 Modular pulley set-up, 180* stat......and he is struggling to get it into the 14's. So......while the GTP Comp G has more HP, that doesn't necessarily translate into a quicker 1/4 mile ET. No offense intended Jeff. |

Re: 2004 GTP's
i do know the 04's are heavier not sure by how much 100-150 pounds. partualy due to thicker windows and sound insilation.

Re: 2004 GTP's
I read somewhere that the gears in the 04's were set up differently to make them a little slower--can someone confirm that.
