I recently hooked up a 850 watt amp and everything works fine except for the fact that every time I plug the RCA cables in the amp I get this whistling sound from the speakers and it gets louder everytime I press the gas in the car! The only time I hear this noise is when the RCA cables are plugged in the back. Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Amp Questions
are the rca cables run next to the power cable?
if you leave the rcas plugged into the amp, and you go up to the headunit and unplug them there, does the sound go away?

If I plug the RCA cables in the amp and not the cd player it does not make the noise..and if I plug the cables in the cd player and not the amp it doesn't make the noise...it only does it if both are plugged in and no it is not run beside the power wire... I've had an amp before and never had this problem.

Re: Amp Questions
check your headunit's ground, if it's grounded through the wiring harness currently, try grounding it yourself to some bolt in the dash.

Re: Amp Questions
go to wal mart and get this little thing called a "Ground Loop Isolator". its like 12 bucks. It will clear that right up for you no problem at all. Ive had several different systems in my car, and some made no whining noise at all, and some made horrible whining noises with the same wiring. That kind of thing is tempermental. You can fool with it for weeks and never fix it, or you might just need to clean your grounds, this and that and the other obvious things, but if nothing works, a ground loop isolator will.

be careful of cheap ground loop isolators that goinline with your RCA's. If the inductance is wrong,it will act like a high pass filter (cut your bass level)
