Angry heating problems

Hey all, i just installed a new thermostat, due to heating problems, but it still wont heat up properly it heats upto appr. 75degrees or a 1'4 of the way on the temp gauge then just stops and wont go any higher and the heater will only blow semi warm air. is there anything else that comes to mind that could be causing my problems . thanks a ton
Brett

Re: heating problems

I have the same problem on my 98 D. I changed out/flushed out my coolant system which improved a bit but still about the same warm air. Id like an answer to this too.

Re: heating problems

Both you guys probably have stuck-open thermostats. The motor never completely warms up and so you don't get hot air...

Could this be the heater core too?? ....or a plugged up hose or heater door inop??

Re: heating problems

I don't think so because the engine temperature doesn't even get high enough like you said. If the temperature was at center on the gauge and it was still blowing semi-warm air, I'd figure it was the heater core or something else.

heating problems

I have a 98 durango, and like all of you I have the same darn heating problem. I have replaced the thermostat twice. It is in such a pain in the ass place too. the first one the thread got stripped so I had re tap the hole with a jimmy rigged handle 12" long. So I don't think its the thermostat getting stuck open unless I have bought 2 bad thermostats.

Re: heating problems

It's the Heater Core. Same thing here and that fixed it after replacing therm, climate module, etc...
