4.0 5 speed
i have a 1990 ford ranger with a 4.0 its an automatic and i want to make it a 5 speed but i cant seem to find one. i heard you can use a 5speed out of a 2.9 ford ranger. is thhat true or false. if false can someone help me find one for a 4.0

Im not totaly sure about tranny hookups but i doubt u can hook a 2.9 tranny to a 4.0 because the block is bigger and wouldnt match up, also its a hell of alot of work to convert from autos to manuals on newer vehicles so if u decide to do it then make sure u get someone who knows what they are doing. well u can always change bellhousings on them an ive convert an 1995 ford probe to an 5speed from an atuomatic

Like i said, I dont know much about trannys.....Thats rocket science right there. It takes alot of know-how to work on um

I thought the 2.8, 2.9 and 4.0 were all essentially the same engines? It seems like it should be doable.
