serpintine belt problems revised

sorry about my last post everyone i misused my words i have a 93 chevy s-10 2,8 litre v6 no air conditioning. i asked how hard it would be to change the tensioner on that but i really should have been asking how hard is it to change the whole tensioner assembly. the spring in the assembly has gone and the tensioner pulley is off by about half and inch and is causing the belt to try and jump the ridges on the pulley therefore eating belts like its its job. how hard would it be to change the whole assembly ive replaced the belt a few times already till i realized it was sqeaking and something had to be done. i got a 50 dollar estimate for the part from napa but i was thinking maybe i could see a junkyard about it because im going to get bucket seats to replace me bench seat from there next weekend also. thanks everyone.

shouldn't be that hard, just around 6 15mm bolts. The same size as you'll need for the seats, although bring along a 13mm just in case

just make sure that it's the same as your setup

Re: serpintine belt problems revised

thanks for the help. switching the whole tensioner could have been really easy if i took off the alternator and everything but i chose for the hardest way possible. i just took off the belt and unscrewed the whole tensioner. wiggled the tensioner out. the new tensioner had a long nipple sort of thing on it to ensure the proper location of the tensioner. i shaved that down a tiny bit and it slid right in. i screwed it back on and then put the belt on and it runs like the buety that she is.
