3000GT vs 300zx
I just want to know your opinions on which car is a better car to go max performance on and why. I am looking for a new car and dont want to buy something if something better is out there. I just pretty much want to know which is better. Considering both of the cars are twin turbo of course.

Re: 3000GT vs 300zx
Well I drive a 97 Mitsubishi VR-4 and my cousin drives a 95 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. Tell you the truth i just love the AWD on my car but it kills you bad in the highway. What you have to look at is what your going to do your car. 300ZX Performance parts are more expensive than for VR-4. My cousin he has Cat-back, Chip, and intake. I raced him couple of time and my car is bone stock and everytime he bearly got me. I smoked him off the line but i rev to 6000rpm and perfect traction but him did about 3500 to 4000rpm and almost no traction. He probably beat me about a front fender after we passed about 95mph. But in the highway he somked me.
If you talk about both stock do, the VR4 will beat the ZX in almost everthing. I love everthing about my car. what year vr4 r u lookin for? |

both twin turbo I would go for the vr-4. All the goodies and can take a 300zxtt stock for stock while still having a backseat.

Re: 3000GT vs 300zx
Can't forget how much the ladies love the 3000
:-D ... also, I belive 300ZX's are more expensive to purchase and claim to have a longer wear, and tear, but I'm not sure how true that really is, because it usually just depends on the owner. All in all I agree with everything that was said here, and I think if you a purchase a 3/s it will time and time again reward you. |

Re: 3000GT vs 300zx
for your original question, the 300zxtt has gotten better times than the 3000gt vr4.
if your really really going all out then go with the 300zxtt but if your just looking for mid to low 11's then go with the 3000gtvr4 what do you plan on doing with it? a 300zxtt handles pretty good, on a track stock for stock the 300zxtt is gonna handle better than the vr4 and wieghs about 300lbs less then us. there's your unbiased info, now its up to you

----300zxTT vs. 3000GT VR4----
track-300zx 1/4 mile-VR4 (unless your going balls out, then the 300zx has claims of more HP) both are super fast and can be super faster. both can be modded pretty easy down into the 11's. for a normal driver, the 3000gt is gonna take the 300zx in 1/4 mile because of AWD but with professional driver's the 300zx can stay even because of lighter weight. but both are overweight and could use a diet...reall it depends on what you want. both are great cars... also, i dont know about VR4's but im sure they can be modded the same but the 300zxTT can be modded into the 12's with $600 (stage II, intake and ECU). FYI: i had the priviledge to see a a drag race between these 2 cars...300zx had a JWT pop-charger (fancy for air filter) and the 3000gtVR4 had a cat-back. 3000gtVR4 won in the 1/4 by no more than a foot. it was close. but there are so many variables...so take it for what its worth.

Re: 3000GT vs 300zx
well the vr4 has 320hp opposed to 300hp in the 300zxtt
the 1st gen vr4 is what would be a very close race with the two, but the 2nd gen vr4's run 13.6-13.3 and are not likely to loosing to the 300zxtt unless bad driving

I have nothing but respect for both cars. Either one would be a good car and a good decision. The AWD in the VR4 is a nice advantage (although disadvantageous at higher speeds), but it is very heavy. As far as STOCK looks, I have to give the nod to the Mitsu. Lots of attention.

Re: 3000GT vs 300zx
Ohh, sorry I didn't say this earlier, but welcome to the forums. As far as the two cars a concered as looks, the 300ZX is supposed to look more like the lambo's and the earlier 3000GT's like ferraris

if you can afford the newer 3000gt, i think you would be more happy with that because it will be newer but then again if you can afford a 95 300zxTT, they are usually better taken care of and newer. but it also depends on what you want to do...
drag racing --- you can go wrong with the 3000gt just an all around "fun" car --- id go with the 300zx, because there is nothing funner than driving a RWD car and a few upgrades and you can be cruising at 170mph on the highway...

Re: 3000GT vs 300zx
I've heard the 300zx has a rather uncomfortable engine bay to work in compared to the 3000gt series. I love both cars and if they made a 300zxtt with backseats then I would have to say I love both cars the same. The vr-4 does have that advantage of being able to hold extra cargo for average everyday around town driving.
This may sound odd but have you investigated eagle tsi's or eclipse gsx's and gst's in terms of options for your car? These cars can generally be made very quick for a small amount of money. Just my 2 cents |
