96 Parking Brake Lever Not Fully Releasing

My parking brake lever when released doesnt release enough to turn the dash light off. Anyone know if this is a spring, or if I need to adjust the cable? I attempted to adjust the cable, but wasnt quite sure how that contraption worked.

Re: 96 Parking Brake Lever Not Fully Releasing

It is possible that your parking brake cables might be corroding up and they are starting to seize. I am not entirely sure if there is any kind of return spring on the pedal itself, but i do know that there is springs at the ends of the cables. I would think that if it is not returning all the way , it is either starting to seize or they need to be adjusted. I heard that to adjust your parking brakes all you have to do is drive in reverse and hit the brakes a few times......it seemed to work on my other trucks <shrugs> I think that is what the automatic adjustment thinggy in there is for lol. I would tend to lean towards them starting to rust up and seize.............i could be wrong
