Re: no floor heat

Mine did the same thing and I never did find out why.

I ran around in winter with the selector on vent, for heat.

Plenum heat direction defaults to have baffles direct heat to windshield when vacuum supply is lost to plenum assembly.

This is for safety. Generally, it is preferred that drivers see where they are going.

If both hoses into heater core are hot (in and out)

Check:

1) Vaccum supply line from where it enters firewall thru grommet (black line) - ensure vacuum is present - if no check line back to vacuum distribution point on firewall (engine compartment near auto transmission dipstick)
2) Check operation of vaccum motors on plenum assembly (there is a previous post on this topic area on how to do this)
3) Make sure vacuum control line connection is secure on rear of heater control assembly. This is secured by two twist screws on plastic studs.
3) Check vacuum lines from rear of heater control assembly to ensure no leaks

I replaced heater core in my GM this fall and became very familiar with heat control system.

A few years back, I also drove thru a winter without heat - in a 1983 Dodge Diplomat - and I live in Canada........bbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr
