Walk through the junk yard
Just taking a stroll through the ole junk yard and I found 2 new (86 & 87-89) z31's. Pretty decent body on the 87-89 I was wondering if the rear bumper cover that has the license plate in the middle would bolt right up to an 86? Also I'm not that familiar with offset and I am in the position to purchase wheels and dont want to get my head slapped with something I dont need or cant use. A 10mm offset rim is very hard to find. Would a 20mm offset rim stick out from underneath the car?

Re: Walk through the junk yard
I'm no help on the bumper thingie.....someone else will have to step on that one. As for the offset, I'll take a stab at it. If it is negative offset, then the 20mm offset wheels will sit 10mm or 1cm farther out from the car. If however, it is a positive offset, then the wheels will actually be set deeper inside the wheel well. You seem to be thinking it is a negative offset, but I would ask a tire shop to be sure. If this is the case, you can see the difference by taping a piece of paper measured to be 1 cm long to the side of your rim or side wall and looking down the side of your car. BTW, check out this site for a more technical explanation http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm
Hope this helps. |
