Will this work?

Have a car imported temporarily. (Not specifically a Skyline. Any JDM car). Then after having the car imported on a temporary basis through the middle of its time allowed hide the car and report it stolen. If there are any flaws in this point them out. I am sure they are. I have thought of a few problems and possibilties. Will they look for it? Tell me what you know or think.

Where to start... Simply put, NO!

First off, you can't temporarily import a car. Next, if you report it stolen, then get caught driving it... Do you know how many laws you'd be breaking? Enough that you'd be looking at jail time, not just fines!

This isn't even mentioning how you'd plate it... etc. etc.

I hope you were drunk or in another state of mind when you posted this because it baffles me to think someone could actually consider this a legitimate idea. First off it is fraud, second what would you do witha stolen car, third how do you plan on driving a car or selling a car or doing anything with a car you have reported stolen. But I encourage you to give it a try cause nothing is impossible and ya never know what can happen next. hahaha

Re: Will this work?

Lmao. This is another devious little scheme. thought up, by none other than...A NEWB! YAY!

No, no, and no. It'll work, you just bring it in, register it like any other car, and then tell yor insurence it's stolen, then, th next day, everyone will forgot you and you car, and you'll be all set.

Oh, one more thing, how do you register a stolen car?

You can import a car temporarily. For example competition use. Everything else you guys said is true. I understand what you are saying. Its just the car I want to import here (in the US) is a 92 and it will be legal in Canada in 2007 but will not be legal here in the U.S. until 2017 where I live. Thats 13 years.

I thought about that. But the only problem is where to keep it and keeping it in Canada while living in the U.S. I have a few plans to work that out though. After thinking about this idea and all its pros and cons me and a friend came up with the stolen car idea. But I really want to ship to Canada.

OK, you didn't say how you'd import it. A lot of people think there are temporary imports.

Anyways, to import as race use, you have to have a lot of proof that it is a race car. Mods, schedule of events, race licence, etc. All that needs to be given to the NHTSA to get approval for the race use import.

All I can say is good luck with that, even some of the D1 cars have had trouble coming in.

no big deal just tell them you want to import it so you can report it stolen and hide it until it gets erased from the system. They will probably let it in since you will get busted in the long run. OK OK i will stop being an ass. Just keep in mind that it is only a car and the time and money you will waste bringing it over and storing it you can probably get and build a car that would easily outperform the skyline.
