Question anti lock light on dash

I just bought a 96 TSi AWD and the anti lock light is on. What are some possibilities that this could be. Maybe wheel speed sensor. The cruise works but the speed fluctuates. Any help appresiated. Thanks.

Re: anti lock light on dash

check on each wheel if the last owner cut the cables of the abs, when i bought mine, one of the cables of the front wheel were cut, so check that.

just my 2 cents, but alot of vehicles, when you lock up the brakes and its equipped with ABS, then the light will stay on and you have to take it to the dealership,. and have them trun the light off. Just an idea.

you can take it to a garage and have them scan it to see what the code is. i don't know if a place like autozone can read codes from the abs system or not but its worth a try

I'm having the same problem with mine right now. I think that maybe somehow the sensor got damaged when I put in a new wheel bearing. Maybe yours is one of the sensors itself too.
