91 escort and oil

i'm thinking about switching from a standard 5w30 oil to a synthetic blend of a full synthetic oil

the engine has 90000 miles
is this a smart move
out of the blend or the full synthetic what is the better choice if i was to swtich?

I wouldn't. I'd just stick with 10w30 regular dyno oil.

Only reason I run 15w50 Mobil 1 synthetic in the TA is because I have a blower on the car.

In the escort, I run 10w30 Valvoline(sp?). Excuse any typin' mistakes, I'm dead tired.

Re: 91 escort and oil

yeah that many miles stick with normal motor oil, not synthetic. with the older cars most of the time all the gunk and dirt and crap left inside the motor, holds all the seals together. so be careful too that you dont put in penzoil or anything that has cleaners in it, or heavy duty oil cuz then you might end up having a leak on your hands. but if you do decide to go synthetic, just remember you cant go back. you can switch to sythetic, but if you find you dont like it, your stuck with it. go to an autozone or something around you and just ask some questions about sythetic to see if its right for you.
