Ticking Time Bomb?
I am worried now that my 3.8L 3800 SII will run into intake manifold problems like it or not. If this is true, so much for one of the most reliable motors on earth
. Now, I hear Dex-Cool besides the new, cheaper gaskets they put in the non-GTP 3800's is a major source of the problem. Would just changing the coolant prevent this problem, or should I just one day down the road just go in and have the gaskets replaced with more reliable ones? Thanks for all your help. Jesse |

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?
I'd check with GM, see if they have a recall on them. That car shouldn't have that kind of trouble. My 97 has 84,ooo, 98 has 101K and my GTX has 100,000. None have that trouble.
Good luck.

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?
Alright.
I was reading on some of the boards and maybe the people didn't know what they were talking aobut and got the 3.8 3800 mixed up with the 3.1 and 3.4 which are notorius for intake manifold problems. You read stuff like that and you wonder if you inherited a problem child or not. |
