Damaged Crankshaft = Rebuild Engine?

My 92 SLT 4x4 crankshaft has taken a dump on me. Does this mean I'm into a rebuild or new engine or are crankshafts rebuildable?

Thanks

Re: Damaged Crankshaft = Rebuild Engine?

it depends on the damage to the crankshaft. most of the time, a machine shop can turn the crank and it will be good again.

once you get done with everything, you will have a rebuilt engine.... or shortblock at the least.

how do you know the crankshaft has gone out? did it lose oil pressure?
