Unhappy 93 4.3 /w oil pressure guage/oil pump..somethin else?BAD

hi.....
iv got a 93 s10 4.3 w..141k..runns perfect...no bad sounds at all.
sounds like it should wether at cold start up or warm.
at start up the oil pressure guage is at about 50 at idle....
after it warms up it will fall to 10-15 at idle.
while driving the guage showes 30-40.
what im wondering is....why such the flux in reading@ different temps?
iv seen some guages that never go below 40.

anyone else have this happon?
is my oil pump.....guage bad.....i could use some help....PLZ
im running 5-30 castrol synthblend....if that helps.

thanks

Your gauge sounds normal but the analog gauges on the 1st gens arent the greatest.... Look into replacing the sending unit (about 8 bux) They go bad as a matter of course... I have the same engine as you, typically it runs at 60 while cold, then drops to 20-25 at idle...

Completely normal.

Cold oil = thicker = higher pressure

Warm up = thins out = lower pressure.

There is nothing wrong with your sender, don't replace it.

It is sensing properly, why are you going to swap it out for?

Common sense bro.....

i was wondering.....were the first gen guages...
faulty/inaccurate in some way?or just poor in quality.

then again teh truck is a 93....guess i should just be happy theres no noises...and the guage seemingly works.

All sending units are prone to failure in any year.

You only replace them if they are faulty. Some go for the lifetime of the truck, some last maybe 50,000miles.

Re: 93 4.3 /w oil pressure guage/oil pump..somethin else?

but still why if it is good on the stick because it is high in the operating range would the gauge read zero and be flucuating like making a turn equals zero then straiten out your up around 20-40

Either weak pump being affected by sloshing or bad sending unit. Replace the unit and see if that works (only 5 bux)

Good luck getting to it though, it is a bitch to reach.

Make sure you have a good assortment of tools.
