This way there is no excuses for anyone not to have seen the announcement I made! This is pathetic people. I get sick of it, and I know other people do to. I havent seen a certain member post within the last week and I gaurantee it has something to do with all the retarded posts. And are we in elimentary school still? Use good grammar and spelling (I'm not too worried about spelling just do your best cause everyone makes mistakes, and if you see you made one, use the edit button, dont make a new post!)

I'm not on a power trip here, its just other places I have seen make this place look bad and I dont want that! Say if I were to go to another site and join, tell them that I am from Automotiveforums and they laugh and say, "That place is so pathetic, people dont even know how to spell over there, nor do they use correct grammar." How does that make you feel? Then I'm suppose to tell them I am a moderator, HA. They would laugh and say what do you moderate! It hasnt happened yet but I dont want it to happen so I am doing something about it now.

Post your opinions. USE GRAMMAR! If I see a post without it in here, it will be delete.

Well thats their problem! This is not a site where you can just post however you want. And from what I have seen its mainly only the newbies that post like this. We dont need them anyways!

ALSO another change to be made... POST IN THE DAMN SUBFORUMS! There are a lot of post that refer to Tech/Performance/Non-Performance in the main forum. USE THEM!

good idea! , but i think new users should get alittle more time to get used to every thing...and it should be easy for the more experienced member to follow these rules....the AF members with experience should also set a good example for new comers to AF.

I dont get it. Who cares. Sometimes the grammar does get bad, but comeon, for real!! Who cares? Almost all of us still know what that person is trying to say. Are you not street smart?

According to who? Who made this rule up? Alot of these people here are kids. People are still finding answers to their questions. If not, they're posting questions so people can help them out. Its all about helping each other. Some people might not speak English too good... then what? All of their posts are going to get deleted because their grammar isnt too good? This makes no sense. Posts are going to get deleted and people are going to start leaving...There's plenty of other places to go where their posts are not going to get deleted.

Also, since Im reading some threads here, got another question. When people say, "Man, that car is sick..." is that going to get deleted? Think about it... according to you, that isnt correct grammar, so would it get deleted? Also, I didnt use any ' in my thread just now... Will it get deleted? HAHA.. I like the whole banned thing! I asked for comments. Why would I ban you? You've got a good point but I can tell if someone knows how to speak english or not! Plus if you are under 13, you are not allowed on this site. Igor, the owner and founder of this site said, "If someone can not use proper spelling and grammar then they dont belong here." I'm sure by the age of 13 you could write a sentence using proper grammar and spelling, if not I suggest you go back to 3rd grade! If you dont want to be here because of it, is that my problem? Some people (the more experianced and knowledgable members) dont want to be here because people dont use grammar! Is that fair? Why cant everyone grow up and start learing how to type/write? My 8 yr old cousin can write better than most of the people on here. Would you type/write like this on an important job application? Yes this site is suppose to look professional. If it doesnt no one would sponsor it and want their name on it. The sponsors are what keep AF free, just like you see all the advertizements around here, on the top/right/bottom of the pages. That is what makes AF free so without them... Are you willing to pay?

man. is AF that bad a grammar? is that a big issue in or on the internet? for my opinion, i'd say it has to be written in SWE, Standard Written English, if not than we do not know what the hell you are talking or typing about. Another problem is that you CAN NOT express feelings through the internet, it'd be pointless, it'd make me feel stupid if i got mad at someone through the internet. My opinions tho...

Those few people that dont want to be here because of bad grammar shouldnt be here then. If they cant handle some typos and people not spelling so good, then let them go. Why do we want them here? Let them bitch and complain and do their own thing.

I think this is a good rule. When you do not write in complete sentences is really hard for the readers to read and try to understand what you are saying. If its too hard/takes too long to read then people wouldn't want to finish reading it, then no one would post. I know I'm like that. Its one thing if you miss type a few words in your post, I can understand that. However, when you start using the AIM way of typing and then don't use grammer, that makes it hard for people to answer you.

About using the sub-forums though, I don't think the site is designed to encourage people to use the sub-forums. What I mean is, if you goto the AF homepage, and then click on Forums, and then click on Mitsubishi and then the Eclipse/Talon/Laser it automatically direct you to this forum, so when people to want to post a thread then automatically post it in this forum. Now, say if you click on the Eclipse/Talon/Laser forum link, and then you are presented with choices of which sub-forums you want to goto, I think that would encourage more people to actually start using the sub-forums.

Its not typo's and spelling mistakes I am talking about! Its the "hey what r u doin" and things like that! Run on sentences are unnecessary also. Use punctuation.

And the comment about "Man, that car is sick..."

How do you find that not proper grammar? It has a Capitol M on man, it uses punctuation, it decribes the car and is ended with a period. Looks fine to me!




EDIT: Wuman82... Thats a good idea about the sub-forum issue. I will bring it up to the site admin and see what he has to say!

I think the subforums suck. GOod idea, but it already takes long enough to navigate to the main Eclipse forum. I dont have time to check 10 different forums, thats why I post allmy questions here. Even my general engine questions. I dont have time to goto the seperate forums and all. Im a busy man

You want them here because they give you the answers to your and other people's questions. Does that makes sense? I dare you to find ONE reputable forum where people don't look down upon those who can't even type in at least an adult manner. Take a look at all the popular/good forums, regardless of whether they have to deal with cars or not. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them will require you to type in a decent way, and not accept the childish shit we see so often around here.

I completely agree with Jake's statements, and I understand where he is coming from. I wouldn't want to be a moderator, or any other authority figure at a forum that won't even enforce some sort of order to keep their site looking somewhat professional!

I write like that every now and then, and I have a great job. That has nothing to do with it. Most people dont have the same "personallities" online that they have in person. I know that sounds weird, but it's true. Im going to stop here, I think I made my points. Ill be posting till I get banned.

Oh, and just a side note, I've been banned from over 10 forums already. Im a programmer in my spare time, but for PC and PPC. I was rebelious, and no one liked it, taking on my own projects and breaking away from groups. Im used to being banned. Its actually fun to me. Good times.

What about the people from the bayou and shit. Like Louisiana, like me . Our school system sucks. Im in college and still couldnt write a good grammer correct paper, without the help of my girlfreind or the internet.

lol but I understand what yall are talking about. The AOL Instant Messanger and cell phone text short hand has got to go. It does make it hard to understand a lot of times.
About the Sub Forums issue, I think its a good idea for the more frequent members but the new guy that has just got a new DSM and has no clue where to start would be screwd. I think we need to work on the grammer problem first and then worry about the sub forums thing after.
