Engine swap
Hi, i'm new here.
I'm looking into buying a Scion tC soon, probably 2 to 3 months from now. The car looks great but the power isn't where i want it to be. I'm thinking about a 2jz engine swap (supra twin turbo) into the scion. I was wondering if this is even possible due to size restrictions, ie, engine bay too small for the bigger engine, and due to the supra/lexus being a rear wheel drive and the scion tc being a FF. If anyone could help me out here, it'd be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Engine swap
why in THE HELL would you want to do such a complicated swap on a tc? especially a new one
why dont u just find an old sc or supra n work off it? |

I want a sleeper. I'm looking to shut alot of people up with my car when i get it. the mustang driving guys around here are smart enough to not go against a supra, but they'll probably underestimate a scion tC thinking it's weak. Also, i'd like to have something different then everyone else. So anyone else think this is even possible?

Re: Engine swap
why not get a TC with a supercharger and make like 200hp..i might be mistaken but i think that TRD makes a supercharger for that engine.

Yeah, i've started ruling out the supra swap since it's gonna be way too costly. I'll probably go with a turbo over a supercharger though.

imo the $3k supercharger u get from trd isn't worth it, it adds 40hp, o yey...big whoop now your down $3k and still having trouble keeping up with rsx type S's i say go for ur own turbo setup, which will be probably the same price, but i can push alot power power out of it, redo the internals and change the compression ratio according to ur turbo setup, the camry engine doesn't exactly rev high so u gotta be careful |

Re: Engine swap
ive heard rumors that the supercharger gave over 80 horses, and so they had to tone it down because it could overheat the thing.... that explains why it was delayed.
80 seems like a lot tho |

Re: Engine swap
why dont you look into the 3sgte motor...the one from the old mr2's? that might work for you...they're single turbo.

Supercharged
That supercharger giving you 40 horses is that with stock injecters , cause if it is you can get bigger injecters and a stand alone. It should give you much better gains.

Re: Engine swap
00+ Celica GT-S Engine /w 00' ECU (or Apex'I PFC)
![]() Lower the compression, then crank up the boost to about 11psi... I know a guy that did that and is putting down near (or over) 275 ponies to the ground. 275 horses and comparable torque in a light car... hot damn. Seriously though, go with either the 3SGTE, 2ZZ-GE (VVTL-i), or 1ZZ-FE (VVT-i). You can't go wrong with either of them. Although there are more parts available for the 3S... 2ZZ you have to lower the compression then crank the boost up but you have lift where as with the 1ZZ (00+ Celica GT) you can boost right out the box, but you don't have the lift system. Its all up to you. But when you said swapping the 2JZ in, I was about getting ready to slap you... granted it's a nice engine... but it's not the only one Toyota made... I am just so sick of what this "The Slow And The Silly" series of movies have done by highlighting just one engine and making it seems that its the holy grail of toyota engines... blah, enough of my ranting :P

Re: Engine swap
i agree, if your looking for a sleeper, do it to something rwd.... especially if your wanting a good launch against v8 stangs and the like.... beat them off the line and you'll get some good looks...
and i know not one person who wouldn't race a supra in their gt stang here |
