Unhappy I Just Messed Up Bigtime.. Anyone Guilty of Doing This..?

About an hour ago, i was in a 4 way intersection, which is pretty crowded. I was on a two lane road, at a stop light. The lane to left has a light, so do i. The lane to the left of me got the redlight with a green arrow. I made the mistake of going through my redlight because i'm an idiot, thank god i look all ways when driving, because man that could have been bad.

In reality though, i couldn't have gotten into an accident because all the lights on all intersections are red when that one green arrow appears, so technically i just drove while everyone watched me and probably said DUMBASS.

This was, i can't even decribe it, such a dumb fu**ing thing that happened on my part. If i could kick myself in the ass i would, about 100 times.

PS, the thing that distracted my awareness was a really nice SVT stang, it through my senses off.. One second i'm looking at this hot car to the left of me, and the next i'm rolling past the red light.

As long as you didnt wreck anything and nothing wrecked you, dont worry about it. Ive accidentally run a red before. Mistakes happen. Dont beat yourself up about it.

That's not as bad as me gawking out the window at a car loaded with 4 hot girls as I rear-ended a nice family in a cavalier.. only damage was me putting two license plate bolt holes into his bumper

Re: I Just Messed Up Bigtime.. Anyone Guilty of Doing This..?

Theres this pretty big four lane road near my house. I had never driven on it before, and as I was heading east on it I didn't realize there was a 4 way stop at this intersection. I went right through, 35 miles an hour. Luckily the van that had the right of way saw me. He honked, and I felt like shit. You just have to get over it and not beat yourself up over it.

I've done simular stupid shit too. I used to live in a neighborhood where my street and the towns by-pass road turned into an intersection. Now the by-pass is a busy road because so many people use it instead of the towns main street. There are few lights on the by-pass and the speed limit is 50 mph, unlike driving through town. Well, on my way to work I would be driving down my road all tired eyed and whatnot. Many times I failed to stop at the intersection and I just kept driving. It wasn't on purpose, I just wasn't fully awake and my attention span was nill. But when I think about it, I was lucky as hell that some truck driver didn't hit me doing 50+ mph.

I haven't ran a red light. But the other day I was in a 4 lane road, divided into 2 by a concrete median. Anyway, in the left lane there's this car infront of me going 10 under, won't fucking move and this truck in my blind spot thats just sitting there. So I couldn't get into the right lane and go around that asshole in front of me. Well we came to an exit and I swear I saw the truck move to the right like it was getting off the exit, so I waited a sec and then flipped on my blinker and looked back and didn't see anything so I moved over and passed the car that was infront of me and then moved back into the left lane. Well after I was back in the left lane I glanced in my mirrors and saw the truck sitting in the right lane. I probably almost hit the persona nd scared the fuck out of them and I felt horrible. But goddamn that person had been sitting in my blind spot for over 5 miles at that point. And I really could've sworn he/she got off on the exit. I felt horrible though.

Those blind spot drivers are jerkoffs. You have to realize that your *possibly* not of the other drivers presence. Either speed up, or slow down, don't remain in the blind spot.

Re: I Just Messed Up Bigtime.. Anyone Guilty of Doing This..?

down my road I make a left, it's only a green yield sign but b/c across the street it's a small court and no one barely ever leaves. I go down that road all the time, and I usually make a left turn without ever needing to yield b/c no one leaves. So out of habit, right when it turns green I make a left right away. One time I was in a hurry to get to my friends, and when it turns green there was actually a car on the other side going foward. So my dumbass almost hits him, about half a foot away, he honks me, and me out of routine thinking I had the right of way, honk back. We honk at each other back and forth like 3 times then I just make my left while he's still caught in the intersection. Then i realized he had the right of way and that I was the dumbass. Oh well, live and learn, I now yield at that stop light

Re: I Just Messed Up Bigtime.. Anyone Guilty of Doing This..?

Once I knocked over my over size drink from Taco Bell while driving. I lean over to pick it up from the floor. As I look up, I see the traffic is stopped. I hit the brakes and slide right into the back of the car in front of me.
I actually stomp on the clutch and brake pedals so hard I bent the clutch linkage in half. That really impressed the investigating officer.

Re: I Just Messed Up Bigtime.. Anyone Guilty of Doing This..?

Haha the whole red light thing just reminded me...

Once I was cruising home from a friend's house at 2 am. I'm tired as hell and not the most attentive. Anyways, I came up to an intersection, just tiredly assuming I could go through it. About 20 feet from the intersection, I saw my light was red - I slammed on the brakes, locking all 4 wheels, skidding to a halt just about into the intersection. I burst out laughing at myself - t'would have been very embarrasing if it were earlier in the day and people had seen. Anyways, there wasn't a soul on the roads and I had to wait at that red light for over a minute

Thinking of waiting at red lights late at night when no one is around - has anyone ever been waiting to go straight at a red light (with no one around), made a legal right turn, performed a u-turn on that street, and then taken that direction's green light to make a right turn and continue along your way? Lol I've done that a few times.

Also, once I was behind this Honda Oddyssy at a stop sign, waiting to turn right. The traffic coming from the left gets a large clearing in it, with the next car quite a long ways back. I see the Honda start to move, so I move ahead a few feet, stop again and just verify that the car approaching from the left was still a considerable ways away. Confirming this, I start letting the clutch out to make my turn, when THUD. The damn Honda was still sitting there. She could have gone 18 times before that car arrived at the intersection......Anyways, I felt super stupid from that. Making me feel even more stupid, I had assumed the car had stalled when I bumped the van, and since the old Escort didn't have a tach, I figured my assumption was correct and turned the key again...GRRRRRRRRRRRIND...oops.

The woman driving the van was from Quebec and spoke like 12 English words, making her difficult to deal with. She'd also just bought the van the previous week. No damage to either vehicle though, we just went our separate ways...
