OK its not a kill or anything but its a update if anyone cares.
i took of my cat yesterday and put a peice of test pipe.. hehe more power! im so glad i took it off, spool up is even more quicker and the car doesnt struggle at much at top end, form 0-about 90 it pulls hard. its soo great, its nice to have some topend now. and backfireing is nice also. its a tad bait louder but not that bad, man but it creeps a lot more now i hit 12+ psi in 3rd not good.. i have to get the chip next.. i cant wait for a kill but its still raining in nyc so it sucks.. o0o well i gotta wait for a nice sunny day.. 1

Re: Re: Update!
on turbo cars a test pipe can free up atleast 10whp easily, im assuming 10..
btw i got a little run in just now with a is300 hehe.. i was driving and i meet up to one of my boys he was driving his cuz, 02 is300 .. my boy was in the car so he was like i wana see how u do against a IS300 so my boy waved him up, i watied untill he was even 30mph roll i masshed it in 2nd, pulled 1 car into 3rd then another 1by 60 so in total 2 cars form a 30mph roll.. hehe but i dont count it as a kill i think he mashed it later then i did and then we didnt get to go to fast b/c of traffic.. but it was fun the car pulls like a bitch.. damm i lucky the little moment of sunshine and dry road we get today i get a race.. hehe 1

True turbo cars love anything that will make exaust flow better and those cats are a big restriction.
However be very careful since the catless exaust smells quite a bit so if a cop rides you bumper he might smell it, and the fines can be very very steep in some states(up to 5000)

Re: Update!
Hey Neutrino, are those illegal here in Utah. I thought about getting one, but if they are then I don't want anything to do with them. Late...

they are ilegal in any polution controlled state including Utah. Without the cat even a modern car polutes far more. As far as passing the emissions tests, you would probably pass it here in utah county where they only test the ecu and don't sniff the tailpipe. If you have an ODBI ecu it should pass without any modifications, however if your ECU is ODBII you have to trick the second O2 sensor after the cat otherwise you'll get a CEL and will fail the test. But as I said if a cop suspects you and actually bothers to look under the car the fine is probably very high(not sure how much it is here but as i said in some states like CA it can reach 5K).

Re: Update!
here in florida we have no emmisions. you are required to have a cat but if you are caught its a fix it ticket. a good trick here is to gut the cat and run a pipe through it then weld. some rednecks just gut the cat. some rednecks also like the sound of an engine back fireing.

Re: Update!
lol thats kind of like what one of my old co-workers did with his S10 with a 350 in it...took the cat off, then welded half of it back up to make it look like one was there...but if u reached up you could feel just the pipe goin thru...crazy ass people

Re: Update!
And that's why I love living in MI. No emissions regulations, and no cats required.
On my Dad's 924 Turbo, he had 3" from the turbo all the way back, and it was actually QUIETER than with all that restrictive stuff on there. And the exhaust note.....oooooooo. You could hear the turbo when it was idling. Spool up was something to die for.... |
