what can I expect?

My '96 Silverado 1500 (350 Vortec) just turned over 100k. Damn thing has never run better. 18mpg on the freeway and can still smoke the tires.

Always ran with Mobil 1 since break-in and doesn't use any now.

How long can I expect this baby to run?

thanks,

RPG

I had a 93 silverado with a 350, was the best truck I ever owned, I put 200k on it, went to Navy bootcamp, some how my brother got the keys and tore the tranny out of it, but other than that I had no problems other than a alternator and a water pump. As long as you don't tear into it too hard it will last a loooooooong time. Still makes me sick I traded it for a '01 Silverado!

So far as I'm concerned, that 350 will keep on truckin' damn near forever.

Re: what can I expect?

thanks for the confidence. This is undoubtedly the best vehicle I've ever owned.

Aside from replacing the intake manifold gaskets (thanks to Dex-Cool) and a water pump and alternator, this engine (and trans) have needed virtually nothing other than my normal ANAL routine maintenance.

And it yanks my boat around every weekend in the summer too. Chevy sure takes a lot of crap for making some very excellent motors IMHO!

Re: what can I expect?

you had to expect Chevy to say "crap, we made these trucks to last too long, what are we going to sell next year if the trucks we built this year are still going?" marketing got the best of chevy

Re: what can I expect?

I'm a big believer of that, my old 93 was so much better than my 01, I had almost no problems with the 93, wish I could go back to the dealership and trade back, all I have to say is I'm glad I have a warranty now, never would have needed one with the 93!
